Wash Closet (1993)
Information Gallery, New York, NY

On one wall were 280 nails, each having a word written on paper glued to its head. The words pertained to an aspect of my grandmother's work or emotional life. On the adjacent walls were small poetic objects that were intended to metaphorically evoke aspects of her interior life. A small pamphlet contained photographs and textual material from research as well as interviews I conducted with my mother and aunts.
