Suyama Space (1998) |
Grasp comprised two simultaneous exhibitions at Suyama Space and Greg Kucera Gallery. In Suyama Space the work related to the life and work of my maternal grandmother: Ten in One Hour and Absent. As a means to allude to our presence in each other's narratives, there was also a black and white photograph of the back of my head on a side wall. The raw, yet spare quality of the former-garage-become-exhibition-space, provided an appropriately stark and quiet environment for the sculptural elements.
